You have the urge, you want to scrap but you have been sitting there for a while now thinking just what to do. You have plenty of paper, embellishments & photo’s printed but BANG you have hit the creative block and the inspiration just isn’t coming out.
So where do you turn for some inspiration. If you are like me you are sick of going through the same old magazines that you have in your stash. Yeap they are getting a bit boring. Or you sit on line for a while going through some online galleries and seeing what everyone else is getting up to. Not always is this going to give you the inspiration you are after.
The internet is so full of great places where you can get all sorts of good inspiration from and here are a list of a few places which I like going to when the creative urge is stuck in the head and wont jump out onto my paper.
Often when perusing the www you will find scrapbooking sites have their own inspirations sections but not always do they give you a variety of what you are after. I have found that storing a few sketch blogs and challenge sites in my favourites often help when the creative flow has stopped.
I must say the first place that I always head to on a dry day is of course Page Maps. Becky Fleck is one who never fails to bring out the creativeness with her sketches. I love the variety that you can find on the Page Maps site, ranging from 12x12 to landscape, Round Maps to Card Maps and even the good old’ half maps. You can sign up for the newsletter which is sent out each month with fresh new sketches in pdf. format. It is a wonderful way to get your scrapping under way each month.
Pencil Lines is a nice little blog which gives you sketches on a weekly basis; the site is very easy to navigate around and has a variety of scrapbooking sizes to check out. Each week there is a variety of layouts from the design team on display.
MPLB – this is a blog that specialises in multi photo layouts. Gives you inspiration for the layouts you want to use more than 3 photo’s on. There are heaps of layouts on display here.
Little Book of Sketches – Like most of the blogs this sketch blog has an awesome array of sketches in all different sizes to accommodate the avid scrapper.
CISters Stylish Scrappers – is a sketch challenge blog which has a new challenge every month.
Sisterhood of Scrap – this site presents you with a sketch challenge each week and also has some card sketches.
As well as the sketch sites, which you can get plenty of inspiration from I have found in my travels heaps of blogs which offer inspiration in other ways. They can be genre set blogs for certain things, e.g. boys, girls, pets, teens. Some of these blogs are: Scrap the Boys, Scrap the Girls, Scrap the Teenz, Scrap the Pets.
I have come across in my blog surfing days a handful of challenge blogs out there that inspire you to do other things or think outside the square. I like to use these when I feel like scrapping but not sure if I want to do a traditional style layout of step outside the square and try something totally different. Next time you are in a total block think about checking out one of the following blogs for some ideas.
One Little Word – each week this blog gives you one word to use in your layout, Use it as the inspiration for your layout, how you interpret the word is entirely up to your creativity.
Aussie Scrapjacked, US Scrapjacked, Kiwi Jack Me Up – these are all sites which challenge you to jack a scrapper
This is Me Journal Challenge – I so love this blog. I have created my own" Me" journal and do these challenges all the time when I want to scrap but have no idea what I want to do. There are some real fun and quick ideas here which you can turn into any scrap page you like, not just a journal.
How Much Is Too Much? – Every Monday there is a new challenge set to use your stash and get those creative juices flowing. Give this a go if you want to clean out the supplies.
These are just a few of the sites which I frequent on a weekly basis. I am often finding more inspiration as I follow the links on each blog too. I don’t necessary find myself following an exact challenge or sketch but there is always something on these sites which will ignite the flame which is needed to create something. You just never know what you will find.
With a few handy sites in your favourites you will never be out of inspiration for those days where your creative juices are just not in the mood for flowing out.
