The most important part of anyone’s scrapbooking layout is the photos. If these get ruined then that’s the page over and done with. Well do not spare we have some ideas here that you may help you salvage your page. Never think the worse until it is really doomed for no return.
The most common blunder I have is doing a wonderful layout and then realizing in my creativity I have scratched my photo. Do not spare. Reprint the photo and cover it over. Well sometimes it’s not as easy as that so here are a few handy ideas
If the scratch is on the corner of the photo you can easily cover it up with a photo frame, this can be either using a corner chipboard frame.
One of my favorite techniques to use though on a scratched photo, when near the edge, is sanding. Take a small piece of sandpaper and rough up the edges all around the photo, if you think this wont go with the layout then take some paint and give the photo a brushed border effect.
Another alternative to these methods is using an embellishment of sorts, ribbon ties along the edge, ribbon border, cover with an embellishment or a sticker.
If you haven’t added the photo to your layout as of yet and the scratch is too big or in a silly spot then scan your photo into your computer and correct the error in Photoshop. This is also a very easy process to take.
One of the other fears a scrapbooker has when scrapping is if the photo gets soiled. My worse trait is having a drink where I am scrapping and knocking it over. That is why I always print two pictures. I never know what I am going to do and the spare photo, if not used as a rescue picture can go into Grandma’s album.
If your problem is only minor though with marks of finger prints, smudges and sticky things such as spilt glue & Adhesives then the ideal way to go is to use a product called the Un-Du PhotoCare Kit. This is ideal in removing all those finger prints, smudges and adhesives from your photos. It can also be used on negatives, safely.
So do not fear, if you have a scratch or a soiled photo there is a recovery step you can take. As I like to say, never say never, unless it is too late.
Happy Scrapping!
