Scrapbooking Solutions 101 - Rub On's & Stickers

Everyone has done it, I know I have. It’s just something that can sometimes never be avoided. A scrapping blunder.

You have completed an awesome page and you are sitting back and admiring your great work and a memory well preserved and you find it, a miss spelled word, a rub on that has gone bad, the paper has torn and you didn’t notice. Well do not fear as here are some great little tips to mend those blunders instead of throwing out a wonderful created layout.

The most common boo boo that people have is using rub ons. Everyone loves rub ons but at times rub ons don’t love us. I know I have had many times when only some of the rub-on goes on so I have to get it off. Here are some tips for when rub ons go bad.

  • For a misplaced rub on or an incomplete rub on use the backing of sticky tape to pull the rub on off your page. This method works with majority but not all rub ons
  • Use a very small amount of undu on the end of a cotton bud or the rub on stick and gently rub over the misplaced rub on. Make sure the area is thoroughly dried before you go adding another rub on to the same area.
  • Gently use the tip of your craft knife to scratch away the rub on. This is best used for rub ons on paper surfaces and metal.
  • You can always purchase an adhesive eraser; these are found in craft stores and are very handy.
  • If you have an incomplete rub on you can use an acid free pen of the same color and fill in the missing spots.
  • A personal favorite of mine though, replace the incomplete rub on with placing an identical one over the top and finishing it off.

Using rub ons are going to be so much easier now that you know if you have a boo boo it is going to be easy to correct.
What happens though when you have a misplaced sticker, well simple. There are many ways of recovering from a misplaced sticker.

  • If you haven’t pushed the sticker down too hard then carefully use the tip of a craft knife to help peel up the sticker. You can place another embellishment in the place of where the sticker was if the papers tear or look shabby. You can use the adhesive eraser to get rid of any left adhesive from the sticker
  • Using Un-Du to remove the sticker is another way. If you use this method then you can possibly reuse the sticker once it is dry, just add glue in place of the sticky side.
  • If your sticker is adhered to the page and you can’t get it of, consider placing a larger sticker or another embellishment over the top.

So next time you have a blunder with those rub ons and stickers don’t fear as it isn’t the end of the world. Get a little creative and fix it. No one will be wiser to what has really happened.
Happy Scrapping!
