When one hears the phrase “Online Crop”, what do they think – daunting, scary, fast paced, how does it work? can I do it?, who can do it?. These are all very simple to answer for you.
An online crop is basically a scrapbooking crop held at an online site and all their members have the opportunity to participate at these crops from the comfort of their own homes and scrapping areas.
A lot of people find the idea of an online crop daunting as a majority of members to these forums are really not that computer savvy. That is ok though as you are the controller of what you want to do and when you want to do it. No one is going to force you to participate or do things that you don’t want too, and being in the pleasure of your own home you have the off switch to get rid of anyone when you have had enough.
Most crops are held over a weekend with a set starting time and a finishing time. During these times you can participate in a number of challenges, games, make and takes and at some sites online classes. Everything that you do is based on what you want to participate in.
A lot of the members log in at the beginning of the crop and familiarize themselves with the set up of the crop forums. This is something that I suggest to everyone that has never participated in one before. Learn the set up of where the challenges are going to be posted, where you can post questions if you have any, where you post your completed challenges and most of all where you can chat and have fun with your friends.
During the crops, challenges and games are posted at random times. What I suggest is to have a note book handy that you can write down all the challenges that are listed and a brief description of what the challenge is. Once you have completed a challenge simply mark it of your list and move onto the next one. You can always opt for printing out each challenge and keeping a record of it in a crop folder.
Most online crop’s run once a month with forums and you will find that at each crop it has its regular members and the set up never changes. Perhaps there will be a theme and everything that you do is set to that theme. These are great for the mojo.
Never be afraid to participate in a crop. We all started out at the same place and we will all end up at the same place, at another crop. Once attend one you will be hooked and will love the fun and excitement as well as the creativity it brings.
We look forward to seeing you at our online crops.
